Thingamobob 1. and Thingamobob 2.TENTACLES
were recorded in 1988 and 1989. This is a compilation of the two recording sessions. Jim Elliott and I met up at a party several years after the two of us played in The Rub. We decided that we would get together in his basement to rock out for fun. We made a lot of noise for weeks until we decided that some of the sounds we seemed to gravitate toward were pretty fun. After trying out a few bass players, Jim introduced me to Linval Fleetwood whose family was from bermuda. We got together and seemed to have a chemistry. The original band had a very 80's sound, and when we made our first tape, many people thought it was one of the best local recordings they had ever heard. I was very honored because of the fact that this was my first band. There have been many renditions of these songs over the years, but these are the originals. Jim was very athletic, and we took to practice as if it were a military workout.

I'm glad to be able to share them, and dedicate them to my very dear friend Jim Elliott, and "To all the People who Died" recently. I made a concerted effort to redo these songs with him on disc (see Thingamobob 2004). Jim requested that the Thingamobob 2004 version of "Wish You Would Go Away" was played at his memorial. I had no idea, and it was playing when I walked into the funeral home.
